so I’m out here in Park City Utah skiing, celebrating my 1 year wedding anniversary (also the reason for the low posts)

In my head, I decided to (somewhat) detach myself from ‘the game’ as I tend to call it. Give my domaining brain a break. To relax on the seo, and not terribly think about work.

sure, domaining and seo thoughts would still creep into my head, but I’d quickly quarantine them.

Last nights dinner reservations were at The Riverhorse on Main, our first meal..

“I’m here to think about nothing…refresh the ole noggin”, I continued to tell myself..

..until, at dinner, Larry Page, cofounder of Google, plus his new wife (I think he married her) stroll in with two other buddies and sit 2 tables away from my wife and I.

‘Just when I thought I was out… they pull me back in.’ …All bets are off now. Noggin engaged.

I sat gap jawed.

My wife asked if I was ok.

I didn’t respond.

I had to blink a few times to verify everything.

yup, it was still him.

but I needed proof.

so I pulled my 2 day old iPhone, which I’m still learning.

Slide the button > Camera > Sit Camera on table facing their direction > It’s low light but screw it > Snap 1

>Snap 2

I tried to think of every conceivable way to go say hello, but they all collided with my being rude -which I would have been.

Send him a shot of Tequila?

My wife vetoed that.

So, I was content with leaving him be..

Even billionaires need a nice meal out.

Thought I’d do my civic duty this afternoon.

Noticed ModernDomainer.com’s site, specifically their right nav bar, is all funked up in the firefox browser. (not sure if they know this or not, thought I’d post anyway)

modern-domainer-firefox.JPG

The gray bars are overextended, and the copy within the cells is cut off a bit.

For example, the first question reads: “Do you feel represented a domainer within ICANN?”
and the first answer reads “Yes, they tend to loo out for all interests”

I know, I know, this may seem like a trivial point to devote an entire post to, but consider this:

According to Google Analytics, over the past 30 days, 53% of my readership base accessed the site through Firefox, compared to 40% IE.

and if that many domainers are reading my blog using Firefox, chances are, that many domainers are reading their site through the same browser.

And I consider ModernDomainer a leader in the domain publishing world. They’re helping us all spread the word about the sweet beautiful world of domaining. So in all measures, I want them to look good. Cause if they look good, I look good too : )

(Hey Ezra or Seth, ya’ll know about this?)

I’ve been keeping an eye on the domainFEST site, as I’m contemplating going, and attempting to get three domains accepted to the live auction.

I noticed a new company on their site, though. One I hadn’t heard about, listed as a sponsor.

The company is called WebMoney.

webmoney.JPG

“hmm, intriguing”, I thought. The image on the site wasn’t clickable, so I typed the domain into the address bar.

w-e-b-m-o-n-e-y.com

here’s the site I’m taken to:

webmoneyjp.JPG

confused, I re-checked that I didn’t fat finger it. I didn’t. The domain simply re-directs to webmoney.jp.

Confused again, I thought, “Would an Asian business advertise on an English speaking site?” Probably not. The logo’s are different too, so that’s throwing me off as well..

They’re advertising at a domaining conference, though, so they clearly understand the rules of buying domains. Generic domains obviously, but specifically domains that match business names.

As I searched in Google to answer my question, I uttered a quiet, ‘ooooof’, when their site came up in the listings.

their domain ain’t webmoney.com

it’s wmtransfer.com (whatever that means - I guess web money transfer)

oh, I guess they registered webmoneytransfer.com

oooooof. nope. parked godaddy page.

oye, these guys have got a lot to learn.

Wasn’t sure if Pool would get any recognition of this online, so I felt obligated to make a note of it here..

just a quick shout out to the owners of mullet.com

I was performing some quick domain “type-in” stream of consciousness (I’ll explain later)..and came across their site..

where they’ve adeptly placed a fitting image..

which is:

mullet

if you’ve got it, flaunt it. Which they’ve done quite well.

and for that, they’ll get some link love from me : )

(and yes, linklove.com is taken already, I just checked)
